More Love: this time from Offbeat Bride!!

I don't know how I can express my thanks to Megan and Ariel over at offbeatbride.com. They totally rocked my advertorial with an almost absurd number of photos and such kind, kind words.
The photos are from Erin & Casey's Zen Buddhist wedding in NYC. I loved this couple for so many reasons--not just because they are totally non-traditional, but because I found them to be two of the kindest and most loving people I've met. Okay, and Erin is a total stunner. That doesn't hurt. Before you head over to check it out, here's a few sneak peek:

Love from Snippet & Ink

OOh!
I'm super excited that Kathryn over at Snippet & Ink did a little Real Wedding write-up on Carolyn & Zachary--one of my favorite weddings from this past summer.

I'm new to this blogging thing, so the idea of being featured on someone else's blog is really exciting for me--especially S&I--it's so so lovely and chock full of talented folks' creations.
Check it out here: http://tinyurl.com/yd9bbkz

I'm going to do a full write up of Carolyn & Zachary's lovely wedding, but in the meantime, here's just a few sneak peeks:

Jen & Brant at the Berkeley City Club

Let me just say here that I adore Jen & Brant. From their first email I knew I wanted to work with them. They are both so gracious and warm, as were their friends and families. Jen had some of the most helpful bridesmaids I've had the pleasure to be surrounded by and Brant's sweet family was fabulous--oh and his dad was the Best Man, which I thought was awesome. They had some of the most moving toasts I've ever heard--and I've heard a lot!
They got married at the Berkeley City Club, which was designed by architect Julia Morgan in the 20s, and inspired their 20s-themed wedding. They had a lot of sweet details like the antique birdcages that served as flower centerpieces. Their wedding planner, Wendy Wittman totally rocked it, keeping everyone on task while being super fun at the same time--not an easy task for a wedding planner. Jen found her gorgeous 20s-inspired wedding dress at a trunk sale at Fabulous Bridal Boutique in Cincinnati and her beautiful veil/feather barrette came from Unveiled Bridal Designs.
Jen chose bridesmaids dresses (which didn't look like bridesmaids dresses at all)  from Bridal Image in SF. They were so cute, I kind of wanted one myself. :)
The ceremony was blessed by classical guitarist Christopher Kilday, which was so lovely and perfect for the setting and they had a vegan cake from Black China Bakery that was delish. Jen & Brant are excellent dancers (if my memory is correct, they met on the dancefloor) so they chose DJ Hyoon to rock the tunes.

All I can say is GORGEOUS. And I'll let the photos say the rest....

First wedding posting. woohoo!

Back in October, I shot Leah & Jacob's beautiful wedding at The Log Cabin in The Presidio, SF.
I loved this rural-feeling spot perched on the edge of San Francisco.

Being the hip folks they are, Leah and Jacob's wedding had lots of beautiful DIY details.
My favorite pieces of the day:
*I was absolutely in love with Leah's bouquet and took way too many photos of it.
*No one sat down during the ceremony. Their family and friends got close, gathering around the two of them. It felt very...tribal.
*Leah is really into birds so her details included lots of them, including homemade-bird-illustrated wine labels!
*Leah did the table arrangements herself--she went to the SF Flowermart  to find her florals.
Their food and cake were catered by BiRite which, if you don't know BiRite, is just downright delicious. Brianna over at Church Street Flowers did Leah's bouquet, the boutineers, corsages and flower girl bouquets. Can  you say stunning? Leah's bouquet was one of the most beautiful I've seen. I took way too many photos of it. But I couldn't help myself!

First blog!

Okay, so maybe this is a tad overdue.
I've been photographing weddings for 5 years now and am just getting around to this?
Shame on me.

Well, here I am. First Comes Love Wedding Photography by Alison Bank is live, once again!
Here's where it went live the first time: www.firstcomesloveweddings.com

I suppose this is also a place to allow me to write, since I used to do that sort of thing long before I was a photographer. My words will likely be about love and amazing weddings and fabulous vendors, but it's writing nonetheless. Oh, and it will also probably be a bit about wedding planning, as I am in the middle of planning my own wedding, which is 4 months from TODAY!

Anyhoo. Keep coming back! I'm going to spend lots of time uploading some of my favorite weddings--older and more recent work.
And please pass my name on freely!
